Is there any way to know when exactly the decorations will be down from Christmas? We were looking at going January 7th, and we would really love to be able to experience the decorations this year.

    Hello Chris!

Welcome back to planDisney! As a fellow Hoosier, the idea of getting out of Indiana in January sounds delightful! We usually plan a February trip just to get a break from the cold and snow, and I’m already looking forward to this year’s winter getaway to the most magical place on earth!

Disney doesn’t publish the date the decorations will come down, and it does vary from year to year. The holiday bling comes down in stages over the course of a week or two. In some years, they have begun removing the decorations during the first week following the New Year holiday. Other years, the decorations have lingered into the second week of January.

It looks like you’ll be visiting during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and in the past the decorations at Magic Kingdom have been left up for this event! Hopefully this means you’ll be able to visit Magic Kingdom when the decorations are still up, especially if you visit the park earlier in your trip.

Please let us know what other questions you have as you plan your trip, Chris! We love talking Disney and are here to help!

    Have a Magical Day!
