Hello Leilani, and welcome to planDisney!
Thank you for bringing such a wonderful and nostalgia-inducing question to us. One of the many things I love about a visit to the Disney Parks is their ability to totally and completely immerse you by catering to all your senses, including your sense of smell! From the aroma of cinnamon as you walk by the
Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen, to the smell of dirt as an elephant tosses some onto its back on
Soarin' Around the World, and my favorite, the nostalgia you feel the instant you walk into
Pirates of the Caribbean and get a whiff of the bromine scented water, the Disney Parks are a treat for your senses.
I reached out to both Disney and Aroma360 for your question, Leilani. On Disney's end, a Cast Member confirmed what we know as detailed in previous answers
here and
here by my friends and fellow panelists
Michelle and
Danielle. The scent used in the
Disneyland Hotel and
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel is a proprietary scent called "Magic" and is unfortunately not for sale. I even asked them if they could break down the scent into its elements and was unsuccessful. Over at Aroma360, I asked a rep if any of their scents were used in Disney Resort Hotels and she replied in the negative. They are a third party company that attempts to replicate the nostalgia of visiting a Disney Park and, if you perform an Internet search, you'll find many others. I've actually purchased scented candles that are supposed to remind you of visiting certain places at a Disney Park!
And so the hunt for the elusive Disneyland Hotel scent goes on. Believe me, if they ever released it, I'd be the first one in line! But there's also something to be said for keeping it special and only available when you actually visit the Disneyland Resort. As much as we want to add Disney magic to our everyday lives, some things are better kept authentic and only available when we actually travel there. It'll mean so much more that way and that sense of nostalgia will be so much more impactful!
Leilani, I wish I had a more concrete answer for you. Thanks for letting me write about one of my favorite aspects of visiting the Disneyland Resort! Please feel free to come back to us with more questions if you think of anything else. It would be our pleasure to hear from you again!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
