I know it is 180 day to make reservations at the restaurants with the dining plan, but do we have to have to have our trip booked...just waiting on vacation being granted but would like to book certain restaurants. We can always cancel or is that a no no!

Hi Peggy! Some Disney restaurants book up far in advance, so you're smart to be planning your dining reservations well before your trip. Any guest may reserve a table at a Disney restaurant 180 days in advance; there's no requirement that you have a Disney resort room booked to do so. (Guests who have resort reservations can, however, book their dining reservations for up to 10 days of their vacation 180 days before the first day of their trip.)

If your plans change, you can always cancel your dining reservations later. Other guests who didn't make plans so far ahead of time will be happy to snag last-minute reservations if you have to cancel. (The only thing I would consider a no-no is failing to cancel reservations you can't use, since that prevents others from dining at that restaurant. It's definitely fine, however, to make reservations and then cancel them later if necessary when your plans firm up.)

Hope your vacation time is granted! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
