I know there have been a bunch of questions about the new 2008 DDP, but here is another one. Now that the tip is not included with the DDP, how is it being paid? Do you HAVE to do the 18%? Are they giving you the suggested amount somehow?

Mary,

As of January 2008, the table service restaurant bills include a calculation of 18% and 20% printed at the bottom. These calculations are simply there for the convenience of the guests. You are free to leave whatever gratuity you believe is appropriate.

Only If you are a party of 6 people or more, will your bill automatically include a gratuity of 18%.
