My kids (1 yr) & (6 yr) both have an abundance of Disney gift cards from Holidays. Is there a way to add them to the app and keep them separated by child? Or suggestion on the best route to take with their gift cards?

    Hi Jessica!

Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!

I’m a HUGE fan of bringing along Disney Gift Cards on our trips…especially for my kids’ souvenirs! And here’s a trick I’ve learned: you can combine the gift cards onto one card for each kid. That way, you can keep track of how much each kid has left to spend, and you don’t need to carry around a bunch of cards. It’s a win-win!

Just visit DisneyGiftCard.com, sign in to your Disney account, and click My Cards. You’ll be able to add each card and transfer funds between them. Each Disney Gift Card can currently hold up to $1000. After that, I just write the amount and my kiddo’s name on the back so I remember whose card is whose.

While you’re on your vacation, make sure to take advantage of Merchandise Mobile Checkout on your My Disney Experience app. Not only does it allow you to skip the wait at the register, but it also automatically applies any discounts. Plus, it makes it easy to use those Disney Gift Cards you’re bringing along because it allows you to scan the card instead of manually inputting the information.

Unfortunately, you cannot add the gift cards to your My Disney Experience app at this time. Because of that, I personally prefer to carry the gift cards with me. But there are a couple of options if you don’t want to carry the gift cards with you at all.

First up, I know some friends who will save the gift card information in a note on their phone. That way, they can easily copy and paste the information into the designated area when checking out using Merchandise Mobile Checkout or Mobile Food Ordering

Second, you can charge the purchase to your room if you’re staying at a Disney World resort, and then pay off the balance at the front desk using your gift card. If you go that route, make sure to check with the front desk to see when they will bill your card. You’ll want to make sure you pay off the balance before your credit card is charged.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to count down to your trip!
