Welcome to planDisney, Theresa! There's "
snow" place like
Walt Disney World Resort for the holidays! I have three teenage boys, and we love escaping the cold of the Northeast and spending Christmas in Florida, so I'm happy to give you some ideas!
I spoke with Guest Services, and there's no Christmas Concert scheduled for the week you are traveling. When I was in Magic Kingdom Park last weekend, they were taping The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, which will air in two parts on ABC on November 27 and December 25. These holiday specials include many famous performers, and you can see the entire listing on the
Disney Parks Blog.
While it's not exactly a concert, the
Candlelight Processional is a beautiful retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator who is accompanied by an orchestra and choir. This show is part of the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and it is my favorite holiday event. No reservations are needed, but if you'd like priority seating, consider booking a
Dining Package. Last year we dined at the
Biergarten Restaurant before the show, and my boys all really enjoyed it. While you're there, visit some of the Holiday Kitchens, which serve up snack-sized portions of festive dishes from around the world!
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is usually only during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. However, for Christmas week, the parade typically has a daytime appearance. Nothing has been announced yet, but keep checking the events schedule. Your teens would also enjoy
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks; this is also a party exclusive that can be enjoyed by all guests at Magic Kingdom Park the week of Christmas at 8:15 PM. The show is visually stunning, especially when viewed from the hub in front of Cinderella Castle.
Finally, one of our favorite family activities is the
Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll. When you arrive, pick up a map that shows the locations of all 20 Christmas trees. The theming of the trees is inspired by Disney characters, attractions, and movies; the details are "
tree-mendous!" Afterward, we like to have dinner and do some shopping. Our favorites include
Wine Bar George,
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin', and
Morimoto Asia. And, of course, no trip to Disney Springs is complete without a stop at
Gideon's Bakehouse for their half-pound cookies- they are Santa approved!
You and your teens will have a
fa la la la fabulous time, Theresa!
