My kids are 6g, 8b & 9g, we will be at WDW for 6 days this Aug. I have been planning for over 2 wks, but now after reading your answs. i'm not sure. I have several resv. but the one I am unsure of is Cape May Cafe. Should I change it to Chef Mickeys?

It depends on if you're talking breakfast or dinner. Chef Mickey's has characters appearing at every seating throughout the day. The Cape May only has characters at breakfast. I think the food at both places is quite good, with lots of variety and choices to suit any palate.

The character meals at both these places are great. I estimate that I've eaten at them at least a dozen times each. But they do have very different atmospheres, one or the other of which might be more appealing based on the characteristics of your individual party. Chef Mickey's is a MUCH bigger venue. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'm guessing that it seats three times as many guests as the Cape May. Chef Mickey's is also louder than the Cape May. There are always many dozens of special events being celebrated here (birthdays, graduations, etc.). Along with that comes the many cheers and songs appropriate to these occasions. Also, several times during each meal there is a little character parade through the restaurant where guest are invited to applaud and wave their napkins. There's just a lot more going on at Chef Mickey's. Sometimes you want that, and sometimes you don't.

In addition to the atmosphere of each restaurant a big factor in your choice of venue would be which theme park you'll be visiting either before or after your meal. If you're headed to Epcot after breakfast, then you're MUCH better off with the Cape May. If the Magic Kingdom is on your day's agenda, then I'd go with Chef Mickeys.

    Hope this makes sense.
