Our kids (9,7,5) saved $120 each for 12 days at Disney World/Cruise.What is best currency: cash, Disney dollars, Giftcard? I want to teach responsibility but reduce risk of losing it.I prefer security of VISA with PIN and cancel if lost but no kid visa :(

    Hi Sarah!

Welcome to the WDW Moms Panel!  I love the idea of your kiddos saving their own money to be spent on your Disney vacation.  My own children have used both Disney Dollars and Disney Gift Cards for our trips, and I have found that since the ship runs on a cashless system, either one works.  On your cruise, all your onboard charges will be applied to your "Key to the World" card which will be linked to your credit card.  At any time you can stop by Guest Services to apply your Disney Dollars or Disney Gift Cards to your account.  They can also print out a copy of your charges to help you keep track of spending or you can pull it up on your stateroom TV.  When you complete your Online Check-In at DisneyCruise.com, you will have to decide whether or not your children will have charging privileges on their "Key to the World" card.

Since you are also visiting WDW, the Disney Gift Cards are convenient since you get an updated balance with each purchase. Also, if you lose your gift card and still have the proof of purchase, they can be replaced. Since you are worried about the cards being lost, Disney Gift Cards might be your best option for this vacation.

I hope this helps with your planning!

Enjoy your surf and turf vacation!
