Hi, my kids and I are planning a Disneyland visit for the week after Labor Day. The days we can do, though, are overlapping the Halloween half-marathon weekend! Can anyone tell us how big an impact that might have on the park crowds?

Hi there, Kathryn, welcome to planDisney!

It’s exciting to hear that you have a visit planned in the next couple of months! I understand your desire to know the impact of the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend on your trip. After participating in the races earlier this year, I can share that between runners and spectators visiting, not including those who end up booking trips not even knowing it’s a race weekend, crowds can be a little more dense. If you are visiting while the event is happening, you will notice the crowds, but there are ways to maximize your time if you brave the crowds, including purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Single Pass and considering a stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel where you can take advantage of early entry to the park days. While a reservation at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels doesn’t guarantee early admission, you have a better chance of experiencing certain attractions if you can score an early entry.

Since you’ll be visiting during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, I have a few recommendations to enjoy the fall spirit! Grab some churro toffee and hot chocolate to watch the nighttime spectacular, Halloween Screams, at Disneyland Park, and if you dare take a ride on Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark at Disney California Adventure Park. The thrills of Halloween entertainment and attractions are always the best! I am counting down to experiencing spooks and treats, and seeing our Cars Land friends in their Haul-O-Ween Costumes!

I am hoping this was helpful, Kathryn, as you plan for your family visit. If you have any other questions before your trip, feel free to send over another message!

    Magic awaits!
