My kids are 9 and 14. We are going to DW for the first time. Where is a good, nice, and fun place to stay and what is a good location to all of the parks. There are so many resorts and places to stay, it is very confusing trying to make reservations.

    Hi Carol,

You are exactly right that there are so many choices of resorts to stay at when traveling to the Walt Disney World Resorts. However, the vacation planners at the Walt Disney World Resorts do provide wonderful tips and information, and they do not put the pressure on you to pick right away.

First, determine what you can afford to spend on a resort and how often you plan on going back and forth between the parks and the resort. My family rarely goes back to the resort when touring. We head out around 9 and come home around 9. Also, we do not care what our room looks like as long as it it clean and comfortable. We are Disney Vacation Club Members, and our home resort is the Boardwalk which my family loves because there are additional attractions at night such as games, entertainers, shops and bike riding. However, you may not be able to afford this location.

I would recommend the Port Orleans Riverside. This is where we stay when we can not get into our Vacation Club room for a variety of reasons. This resort is small enough not to get lost but it has a wonderful food court, nice pools and it is only about 15 minute ride (depending on time of year and traffic) to most of the parks.

After you decide what resort you might like to stay in, visit the Moms Panel again and look up our take on the resort. You can even email us a follow up question.

    Have a great first trip!
