Welcome to planDisney, Melissa!
Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is coming up soon! Let's get you all set and ready to enjoy the magic of the
50th Anniversary Celebration!
Melissa, how you choose to set up your
My Disney Experience account is really up to you. As the vacation planner in my family, for years I was the only member of my family to have a My Disney Experience account. My husband and children had profiles under my account. They would simply log in to my account to use the
My Disney Experience mobile app on their devices. This way they could check showtimes, view our Disney PhotoPass photos, and place
Mobile Food & Beverage orders using the payment method I have linked to my account. (Although I did need to have a conversation with my teenage son about how many Cream Cheese Pretzels are reasonable to order in one day!) Personally, I just find it easier to manage everyone in my household under one account. Now that my eldest son is an adult living on his own, he does have his own account -- which means his Mobile Food & Beverage orders are charged to his credit card, not mine!
In other families, each member has their own My Disney Experience account, and the accounts are linked through
Family & Friends so everyone can see and share reservations and plans. It just depends on what you think might work best for you. Keep in mind that children must be at least 13 years of age to have their own My Disney Experience account. Another consideration is that teens under age 18 cannot link a payment method to their accounts. If you think you would like to allow your kids to place Mobile Food & Beverage orders that are charged to your credit or debit card (see Cream Cheese Pretzel caveat above), then it may be best to just have them log in with your credentials.
If you have already created profiles for your kids in your account and they then create their own accounts, you'll need to be sure to update their profiles so any tickets or reservations linked to them migrate to their new accounts. To do this, go to your Family & Friends List, and next to their name choose "Update" and "Share Planning with (name)". You'll be able to enter the email address that is associated with their new account.
Melissa, I know I have given you a lot to think about. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to write us back. We are always happy to help.
