My kid will be 11 next time we are in the cruse, if he goes to the edage club it works like the ocean club where I can choose if he can go any time or I can choose he needs to stay until I come for him ? Thanks

    Hi there, Julio!

Welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you may be a seasoned Disney cruiser, so thanks for sailing by with your question.

One of the things I love most about Disney Cruise Line is how much fun kids have in the youth clubs. When my grown boys were younger, I remember them barely sitting still at dinner because they couldn’t wait to race off and meet up with their new friends, sometimes not returning to our stateroom until well past midnight!

It sounds like your son is ready to move up to the next level of onboard fun, and Edge is the perfect spot for tweens! Designed for kids ages 11 to 14, this club offers a mix of high-energy games, interactive scavenger hunts, dodgeball, basketball, and even the chance to team up as Heroes vs. Villains for some friendly competition. The Youth Counselors do a fantastic job keeping the kids engaged, not just with video games but also with creative activities and even surprise visits from Disney characters!

The biggest difference between Edge and the younger clubs (Oceaneer Club & Lab) is that kids ages 11 and up can come and go as they please. Unlike the Oceaneer Club, where parents must check younger kids in and out (unless they’ve granted self-checkout privileges for ages 8-10), Edge operates more like a tween hangout, and your son will have the freedom to enter and leave on his own. If that makes you a little nervous, I understand! I like to use the chat feature in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to keep in touch with my teen while onboard. And if your son is unsure about Edge, encourage him to check it out at least once, because sometimes a little nudge is all it takes! I especially like the Open Houses they have on embarkation day when parents can go check things out with their kids.

While he’s off making new friends, this is the perfect time for you to enjoy some of the ship’s adult-exclusive spaces. Whether it’s unwinding in the Rainforest Room at Senses Spa, grabbing a drink at a beverage-tasting seminar, or simply relaxing by the Quiet Cove Pool with a book, there’s no shortage of ways to make your own vacation just as magical.

I hope your son has an amazing time on your upcoming voyage, Julio! If you have any other questions, I’d love to help. "Sea" ya real soon!
