Keys to the Kingdom tour booked for 8am at MK. Is transportation operating before 8am so we can get there for the tour and a CM will be able to let us in? We are staying at a resort so we do early entry but only by 30min.

Hi Hannah! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!

Wow, Disney's Keys to the Kingdom tour is so special!  I remember begging my parents to take me on ANY "behind the scenes" tour of Walt Disney World Resort as soon as I was old enough because I wanted to learn everything I could about the Resort.  Let me tell you, from my perspective it was just as, if not more magical to see the "backstage" areas of the Park!  The Cast Member tour guides are so knowledgeable, and you'll leave your 5-hour tour feeling like a true Walt Disney World savant.

I've checked Magic Kingdom Park's hours for the days around your arrival date and it seems like the Park opens at 9 a.m. each day.  Usually, busses start running approximately an hour before the gates open, and with Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resorts Collection hotel Guests, that means transportation will be running by 7:30 a.m.  From personal experience, I have found that Disney transportation tends to start running even earlier than expected, though you still might not want to cut it so close.

I would suggest a ride-share option such as Lyft to get you to Magic Kingdom in plenty of time.  Since all of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels are on Disney property, the trip shouldn't be too long or expensive. The driver will be able to drop you off at the Transportation and Ticket Center and from there you can use Disney's complimentary Ferry or Monorail to finish the rest of your trek into the magic!  The Keys to the Kingdom tour does require all Guests to arrive 15 minutes before the tour kicks off, so I would plan on leaving your Resort by 7 a.m.

Enjoy the backstage magic, the delicious lunch that is included with your tour, and the "secrets" that you will learn along the way! If you're staying in the Park after your tour concludes, make sure to catch Disney Enchantment, Magic Kingdom's new nighttime spectacular.  Grab an Anniversary Cinnamon Roll from Main Street Bakery, pop your feet on the curb, and enjoy people-watching while you wait for the fireworks to begin! It will truly be a perfect moment to end a magical day!

    Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Ashley, Massachusetts

Hi All, I'm Ashley! From the very beginning Walt Disney World Resort has always been a part of my life. As a child I excitedly helped to plan family trips, as a young adult I planned our "happily ever after" right on Disney property, and now I'm lucky enough to plan magical vacations for my three incredible children. When we're not taking in the enchanting experiences of the parks, we're home in Massachusetts, probably planning our next trip! Learn More About Ashley
