Ahoy Edward!
I'm so glad you charted a course to planDisney. I'd be happy to assist with all your
Disney Cruise Line vacation planning questions.
It sounds like you may already be an expert sailor since you're in the know about
Key to the World Cards. These handy cards will not only allow you to board and disembark the ship at each port of call, but you'll also use them to unlock your stateroom and make purchases during your sailing. They are so convenient and make a great souvenir once you're back on dry land post-cruise!
Because each Key to the World Card is uniquely tied to your particular sail date, ship, stateroom, lifeboat station, and
Castaway Club level, you won't be able to reuse them for future sailings. But not to worry Edward, you'll be issued a new one for your next itinerary once you've checked in and are ready to set sail.
In the past, we've been issued our Key to the World Cards inside the Port Terminal, but on our most recent
Disney Wish sailing in April our cards were waiting for us in a sealed envelope tucked into the nautical motifs affectionately referred to as "fish extenders" located next to our stateroom door. If you're feeling nostalgic you can always bring along a past card to use in the light switch just inside your stateroom door which will control the power within your room. We like to bring along an old gift card to keep tucked into the power bank so we can easily slide it in and out as we enter and exit our stateroom, instead of taking our current cruise Key to the World Cards out of our lanyards each time.
If you're looking for a reusable option consider purchasing a
DisneyBand+ in advance of your next sailing. You'll still be issued a Key to the World Card, but you can use a Disney Band+ in its place on select itineraries for hands-free access to your stateroom,
purchases at merchandise locations, or specialty food and beverage items during your voyage. Functionality is only available on Disney Wish and
Disney Fantasy at this time, but you can also
use your DisneyBand+ with linked theme park admission at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort! Alternatively, if you already own a MagicBand+ for use in the parks, you'll be able to use it as a DisneyBand+ on eligible itineraries.
I hope this was helpful Edward. If you have any more questions please sail on back and let us know. Wishing you a most magical time at sea!
Bon voyage,
Amy
