Heya Shannon! Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for coming to us with your question!
As a veterinarian and dog owner myself, I love interacting with and helping other pet parents as they prepare for their visit to the Disneyland Resort. I wish it were as easy as throwing our dog into a suitcase as Mickey did with Pluto in the 1940 short
Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip. When we do travel, we want nothing but the best for our four legged companions and to know that we're leaving them with a reputable kennel.
There used to be a kennel at the Disneyland Resort. It opened as the
Ken-L Land Pet Motel in 1958 and operated just outside Disneyland Park for decades. Unfortunately, the kennel did not re-open with the rest of the Resort in 2021 and currently Disney has not released a plan to resume operations.
That doesn't mean that you have to leave your fur baby at home when you travel to the Happiest Place on Earth, however! There are several
Good Neighbor Hotels that are labeled as Pet Friendly and will allow you to bring your pet with you! There are also many third party kennels and pet boarding facilities in the area which you can find via an Internet search.
When you do visit later this year, have some fun and involve your furry companion in your vacation. If you have a picture of your pet on your phone, the artist just outside the exit of
Pirates of the Caribbean will produce a fun caricature of them! You can also bring home a souvenir for your pet too. I feed my dog Lilo from a bowl and mat that say "Feed Me, Foolish Mortal!"
I hope that answers your question, Shannon, and that it was informative for you. I would love to be able to take my dog on vacation with me like the Fab Five did in
Hawaiian Holiday. If there is anything else we can do for you, please reach out to
me or any of my pals at planDisney! We'd be happy to help you further plan your trip!
Have a Magical Day!
