Aloha, Doug!
Palm trees swaying in the warm ocean breeze, sandy beaches, tropical floral blossoms, and glorious sunsets await you on Oahu! At
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa you’ll be immersed in Hawaiian culture while enjoying that touch of whimsy Disney is known for.
If your family is anything like mine, at the end of your trip, you won’t want to leave. But alas, all good things must come to an end, and for those Guests with late flights, it can be challenging to figure out how to make the most of your last day while still being ready for a flight back to the mainland. Typically, Guests used the Luana Lounge. The lounge is the exact reason why we love the Disney difference. They think of everything!
Doug, currently the
Luana Lounge, along with several other resort offerings, has not reopened. However, your trip is still a long way off, and hopefully, the lounge will be available for your trip next year, so let’s talk about what to expect!
The Luana Lounge is only available for resort Guests on their day of check-out. No reservations are needed or taken, at least that was the case in the past. Before the pandemic, the lounge could get a bit busy, so I would recommend leaving yourself extra time just in case. Simply request access at the front desk. You’ll be given a keycard to access the lounge and instructions. Be sure to inquire in advance about closing time! In the past, the lounge has closed as early as 6 PM, and you don’t want to be surprised at 7 PM when you are trying to get ready for a red-eye flight back! The keycard allows you access for a single visit, as the lounge is not meant to be a place for Guests to hang out all day, but simply a place for you to shower and change before your flight. You’ll find lockers to store your clothing, restrooms, and showers with towels and toiletries. They even have one of those cool spinners so you can get your swimsuit as dry as possible before packing it in your luggage.
If the Luana Lounge has not reopened for your trip, I have a few ideas. We hit the pool in the morning for one last swim, then returned to our room to clean up before checking out at 11 AM. We then made a final trip to the gift shop and enjoyed a leisurely lunch at
Off the Hook. Since we had a car, a trip up to the North Shore for shave ice and to watch the sea turtles on the beach was the perfect end to our trip before heading back to the airport.
I hope this helps with your planning, Doug. I’m wishing on a star, and sending pixie dust that the Luana Lounge opens in time for your trip!
Mahalo, for sending your question!
