Hi Kami, I wanted to visit the park with my mom but she has mobility restrictions. I wanted to ask you regarding wheelchair for magical kingdom theme park for my mom. . I would appreciate any help. Thank you

    Hey there, Ramsha!

I’m absolutely delighted to welcome you to planDisney, and I’m so glad you stopped by with your question! Can you believe your visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth is just days away? That countdown must have you feeling all kinds of excited! I especially love that you’re planning to spend time at Magic Kingdom with your mom. That’s going to be such a meaningful day, filled with moments and memories you’ll both cherish for a lifetime.

As a wheelchair user myself, I’m really glad you asked this question. I know that navigating the parks might feel a little overwhelming at first, but I promise it’s absolutely doable, and I’m here to help you feel confident and ready for a practically perfect day!

Walt Disney World Resort is incredibly accommodating when it comes to mobility needs. If your mom already has her own wheelchair, she’s more than welcome to bring it with her. If she'd prefer to rent one for the day, you’ll find wheelchair rentals just inside Magic Kingdom's entrance, all the way to the right at the Stroller and Wheelchair Rental location. They’re available on a first-come, first-served basis, so I’d suggest arriving early.

When it comes to attractions, you’ll be happy to know that accessibility is built into the experience. Many rides offer Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), which means your mom can stay right in her wheelchair for the entire attraction if that’s most comfortable for her. There’s an up-to-date list available online, so you can take a look ahead of time and map out which attractions you'd like to experience.

For other attractions, transfer access is available. This means your mom would move from her wheelchair into the ride vehicle’s standard seat. Depending on the attraction, that could involve a seat with a folding bolster, a door with a swinging threshold, or a transfer board to help bridge the gap. Cast Members are always nearby and happy to explain what to expect, so you’ll never feel like you’re figuring it out on your own.

I’d suggest taking a look at the Magic Kingdom Guide Map for Guests with Disabilities before your visit. It’s such a helpful planning tool and can really make your day feel more organized. Another fantastic resource is built right into your My Disney Experience app. There’s a dedicated section for Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities, so you can quickly pull up information while you’re in the parks. It’s incredibly convenient when you need details on attraction accessibility, companion restrooms, seating areas, or other helpful services…all right at your fingertips while you’re on the go.

Ramsha, I hope this helps you feel even more prepared and excited for your visit! Wishing you the most wonderful day filled with special moments. Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney!
