Hi Paul!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. There are two savannas at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village, the Sunset Savanna and the Pembe Savanna.
The information you heard is correct. Currently, giraffe are only seen on the Sunset Savanna. This is the larger of the two savannas and is shared with Jambo House. You will also find zebra, ostrich, wildebeest and other animals in addition to the reticulated giraffe. The Pembe Savanna is home to roan antelope, several species of birds and the okapi. The okapi is exclusive to Kidani Village. It has stripped legs, and by looking at it one would think it to be related to the zebra. Interestingly though, it is actually related to the giraffe!
If you do online check-in 60 days prior to your arrival, you can make a request for either the Sunset or Pembe Savanna. While requests are not able to be guaranteed, Cast Members will do their very best to find you a room in your preferred area. Rest assured, that whichever view you have, there are public viewing areas for each savanna that are open to all Guests. I hope this helps as you plan your upcoming stay. Let me know if there are any additional questions I can help you with, especially if you will be staying at Kidani Village, as that is our favorite resort!
Happy Planning!
