Ahoy, Gini!
There are some fabulous adventures for your crew to experience on your
Alaskan sailing next month! The best way to enjoy these amazing ports of call is to immerse your family by land, sea and air. The
Port Adventure list for Alaska is extensive, so my recommendation is to search by location and then by age requirement to narrow your list down. You know your kids best so I suggest selecting excursions that will keep them engaged and entertained while ashore. Two options to look at in Skagway are the Alaska Nature and Wildlife Expedition and the Musher's Camp and Sled Dog Experience. The expedition is a good fit if your children are interested in learning about the various wildlife and habitats in Alaska. There is also an opportunity to observe salmon during their spawning season. My family experienced the Musher's Camp last summer and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Iditarod, being pulled by the amazing dogs that are training for the race and visiting with the adorable husky puppies. They were just weeks old and so cute!
In Juneau, you may want to consider an air excursion like the 5-Glacier Seaplane Exploration or seeing some marine life such as whales, seals, sea lions on the Alaska Whales and Science Adventure. Ketchikan will be your last stop, and I suggest looking into the Classic Misty Fjords Flightseeing, the Rainforest Island Adventure or even the Exclusive Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. The lumberjack show is less than a five- minute walk from the dock, so we were able to enjoy this show in the morning and another adventure in the afternoon.
I really don't think you can go wrong with all the wonderful options, Gini!
Adventure awaits you in Alaska!
Have a "Wonder-ful" time!
