Bonjour Marie-Helene! Merci pour ta question! Some of my fondest memories as a child were driving to Disney World from Ottawa. I must admit I haven't done it since, but envy you, as it will be a fantastic vacation.
My first recommendation is to check out
MapQuest to plan your route. You can easily plot your vacation, including sightseeing spots. Here are a few of my favourites:
- Philadelphia, with its great museums, history, and of course the liberty bell. Great shopping too!
- We always spent a full day touring Washington, DC.
- Richmond, Virginia is a great spot to stop, and if the timing works, spend the night.
- Loved stopping anywhere in Georgia - we always bought pecans at roadside stops.
- St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest American city, was another must-do for our family.
- Driving on the beach at Daytona was always exciting.
Those are just a few of my favourite memories. There is so much to see along the East Coast, so be sure to stop if anything strikes your fancy. Be sure to bring lots of toys, travel games and a portable DVD player if you've got one.
Bonne vacance Marie-Helene!
