A big hello to my Ontario neighbour! I hear you on it being so hard to choose between resorts, as each has its own pros. I tend to base my decisions mainly on location. Here's what I mean:
For a moderate, I prefer Port Orleans. We tend to spend at least a few evenings at Downtown Disney, and I love LOVE the boat ride there. As a matter of fact, I just booked it for February! Right now I would recommend
Port Orleans French Quarter, as all of the rooms have been recently updated. Rooms at
Port Orleans Riverside are currently being updated. Guests of Port Orleans can also enjoy the facilities at either resort, including the pools, which is another perk.
For a deluxe resort, I recommend the
Yacht (or Beach) Club Resort. Although my main reason for this is location, the pool area is amazing. Stormalong Bay is THE best resort pool, and has a great slide, sand bottom, even a lazy river. They also have a bonfire and marshmallow roast every evening, followed by movies on the beach. So fun! Now back to location. It's a relaxing boat ride or short walk to both Epcot and the Hollywood Studios, which is so convenient! And it's right across Crescent Lake from the Boardwalk, which is a great way to spend an evening with its live entertainment, shops and restaurants.
Now if you have younger children and anticipate spending most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, then I recommend the Contemporary Resort. The monorail goes right through it, and will take you to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The rooms are big and modern, and there's lots of dining to choose from, both at the resort or at the other two monorail resorts.
Hope this helps Lisa! Write back with any other questions!!
