Hi, Margie! I took your question to my 14 year old nephew, who told me the best itinerary for him was to just get him through the gate, and let him do whatever he wanted! Well, that was easy!
I think planning an itinerary really depends on what your 14 year old is interested in. My nephew loves the excitement of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, so when he visits Walt Disney World, he likes to start at Disney's Hollywood Studios. He also loves the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. I did ask, and he said Fantasmic is his favorite night time show anywhere at Walt Disney World. His next favorite park is EPCOT, because he could spend all day at Test Track, Soarin', and Mission Space. He also enjoys Maelstrom, and he likes a lot of the World Showcase entertainment, like Off Kilter.
Just about every kid I've ever met finds something they like at the Magic Kingdom. For my nephew, it's Big Thunder Mountain. He'd ride it all day if we left him there. He's always up for a challenge on Buzz Lightyear - and loves it when he can beat my brother's score! He's also a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, but he'll happily ride It's A Small World with my daughters without complaining. Of course, we never make him ride more than once during the vacation!
I would let your 14 year old check out the
www.disneyworld.com website and come up with a list of things he really does not want to miss. Build your itinerary based on those things. Start at the park where he has the most attractions he'd like to see, and go from there!
