Ahoy, Paula!
Castaway Cay is our family's favorite port, and we almost never book an excursion there! We are even taking a cruise this summer on the Disney Dream that stops at Castaway Cay TWICE! There are a variety of planned activities, as well as the kid's area, Scuttle's Cove. Maybe you would like to try a family bike ride or some snorkeling in the 22 acre snorkel lagoon?
If you are traveling with little ones, Scuttle's Cove is a sandy play area that includes a brand new 1,200 foot water play area. This new "soft wet deck" area features water spray jets, geysers, and bubblers, all with fresh water coming from them. There is also Monstro's Point, a giant whale bone exploration area. Your youngest cruisers will find so much to do here, you will probably have to return to get them before they call for you!
Our family usually brings a few sand toys from home, but you can also purchase some at She Sells Sea Shells...and Everything Else or By The Sea Shore, both shops are located on Castaway Cay. We love spending part of the day digging in the sand and making sand creations. There are also plenty of chairs with umbrellas along the Castaway Family Beach to protect your little ones from the sun, too. If you are traveling with just adults, be sure to check out Serenity Bay, a beach exclusively for those 18 and over.
Our family also likes to go to the Crab Races, run near Cookies BBQ. It's pretty hilarious, and will be listed on the Daily Navigator. Don't forget to stop to pose for a photo with the ship behind you, too!
I hope your family has an amazing time visiting my favorite port. Please let me know if you have further cruise planning questions.
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
