Hello, I invited my Mom to come with us to Disneyworld at the last minute and I found out she does not have a valid ID. She won't have her new ID card by the time we leave for Florida. Will she be allowed in the parks or will she be stuck in the resort?

Hi, Steven!  Gosh, it would be terrible if Mom had to go all the way to Walt Disney World and spend the whole vacation at the resort!  Although, I often imagine once my kids are grown and I get to go to Walt Disney World without them, I'll spend my days at the spa and the pool, and I won't even have to go into the theme parks to have a great vacation!

We just got back from Walt Disney World two weeks ago, and my stepmom lost her photo ID while we were at the airport on our way down.  She ended up not needing it for anything, but we did have someone fax us a copy of an expired ID that she had with her just in case.

If you are flying to Florida, your mother will need a valid photo ID at the airport.  If she has had a passport, there are agencies that can get a replacement passport in a matter of just a few days - some claim to be able to do it in one business day!  It is a pricey proposition to get your documents this way, but at least she won't have to worry about not being able to get on a flight.

If you are driving, so that the airport won't be an issue, I suggest just bringing whatever expired photo ID she does have, in case you need it for anything.  She should not need it at all to get into the theme parks.
