Hello Daniela! Welcome to planDisney.
I can understand why you are interested in planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort during the
holiday season. The halls (and everything else) are decked! I am always so impressed with how the Christmas decorations reflect the atmosphere and ambiance of the different theme parks and resort hotels. From the stunning Victorian showpiece tree at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the multi-colored decorations at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort, to the kitschy retro decor at
Disney's Hollywood Studios, the holiday decorations certainly bring an extra layer of magic.
Depending on when you plan to visit in January, you may still be able to see some of the holiday decor. There is not necessarily a specific date when all the holiday decorations are removed, and how long the decorations remain in any particular location varies from year to year. The decorations will come down gradually beginning in early January. Christmas decorations at the resort hotels generally are removed just after the new year. Usually, the decorations in the theme parks remain until after the
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. On a recent January trip, I was happy to see
Magic Kingdom Park still fully decorated. Two days later, all the holiday decor had disappeared! Yet over at
EPCOT on the same day, many decorations remained.
If you'd like to be able to see some of the Christmas decorations, I recommend scheduling your visit as early in January as possible. If you can, you might want to consider arriving at the end of December. The
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays ends a few days after Christmas, and the last daytime performance of
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is usually December 31.
Daniela, if you have any additional questions, please stop by and see us again. We are always happy to help.
