    Interested in the horseback trail ride at the Wilderness Lodge, but I am unable to locate any details. Has anyone been on it? Is it buggy? What was your experience? Thanks

    The horseback ride is from the Tri-Circle-D Ranch which is located at Fort Wilderness, not the Wilderness Lodge. For current pricing and reservations, you should call 407-WDW-PLAY.

    This is a Western trail riding experience that lasts about an hour. I did this with my oldest daughter when she was nine. I hadn't been on a horse in about 25 years and was a bit nervous, but the horses were very gentle and the guides were superb. No previous riding experience is required. The trails go through the wooded area in and around Fort Wilderness. The guides I had were very knowledgeable about the plant life in the area, much of which was unfamiliar to me. I don't remember bugs being a factor in my ride, but we did this in the winter when bugs are less of an issue. You could always wear some spray if you were concerned. Riding helmets are required and provided. And you're going to want to make sure you wear long pants for your ride.
