My family's first Disney Cruise Line vacation was an Alaskan cruise aboard the Disney Wonder. Our primary intent was to enjoy a visit to "The Last Frontier." We didn't think cruising would be for us, so we were certain it would be our first and last cruise. But we enjoyed that experience so much, we felt it was worth at least one more try. Our second Disney cruise set sail out of Galveston, Texas. We have been on more than a dozen Disney cruises since then, with many more already planned. We credit that Galveston cruise for solidifying our love of the Where Magic Meets the Sea aboard the Disney Cruise Line.

The precursor to the upcoming Galveston cruise season will actually begin in San Diego, California, on November 6, 2026, when the Disney Magic embarks on a 14-night cruise that transits the Panama Canal, visiting several ports and five different countries before it arrives in Texas on November 20th. Beginning on that Friday, November 20, 2026, the Magic will commence a series of 4-, 5-, and 7-night itineraries. The 4-night and 5-night cruises will be Western Caribbean itineraries with stops mainly in Mexico. The 7-night cruises are Bahamian itineraries with stops in Nassau, Bahamas, and the Disney Cruise Line's original private island destination: Castaway Cay. The upcoming season in Galveston culminates with another Panama Canal cruise, this time starting out from Galveston on April 25, 2027, and ending up in San Diego on May 9, 2027. I'm anticipating that we may hear about the Fall 2027 season within the next few months to discover what new Disney Cruise Line magic awaits Galveston toward the end of next year.
Having sailed many times with our two children on the Autism Spectrum, we know how helpful it is that the Disney Cruise Line can provide accommodations to make the experience of Guests with disabilities as smooth as possible. Each Guest has unique needs. But for children and adults on the spectrum, I've found that what helps the most is simply knowing ahead of time what to expect so that caregivers and other travel companions can have resources and plans ready to support their loved ones' unique challenges. That's why I'm grateful the Disney Cruise Line has published a guide with Information for Guests with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, which includes details of many aspects of cruising that could manifest as potential concerns to prepare for.
