Is there a way to have info on parks and hotels mailed to me ? We are planning our 1st trip to Disney with a family 6 so I would like to save as much money as possible and make my kids dream come true

    Hi Heather!

Welcome to planDisney! One of the most important tips for traveling on a budget and making your kids' dreams come true is to plan early, and just by the fact that you reached out to us here at planDisney tells me you are off to a great start!

We too are a family of 6, and while I often feel that the rest of the world revolves around the typical family of 4, Disney definitely makes traveling with larger families easier. There are Disney Resort Collection Hotels that offer connecting rooms, Family Suites that sleep 6 and offer a kitchenette, and larger 2 Bedroom Villa Accommodations that sleep 8 and have a full kitchen as well as a washer and dryer!

Heather, Disney no longer has physically published materials that they send in the mail, but never fear, I have some ideas for you! First, I encourage you to explore the Walt Disney World Website. Enter your dates and you can begin to price out a vacation package! You’ll find links to all of the resorts where you can view room photos, floor plans, and get an idea of pricing so you can begin looking at your budget. As a family of 6, I would recommend the Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, or The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

I would also encourage you to visit your local library. On our first trip with the kids, I borrowed several trip planning books that I used for my starting point. The “Unofficial Guides” are some of my favorites, but you’ll find a variety of options. Do keep in mind that things change quickly at the Walt Disney World Resort, and so while the books may be a good starting point, always verify things with the official Walt Disney World Website.

The other option to consider is an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. This would be a travel agent that specializes in Disney vacations. Many people mistakenly believe using a travel agent costs money to the Guest, but it does not! A quick search of your favorite browser should come up with a variety of options to explore. An Authorized Disney Vacation Planner would be able to help you plan your visit step by step and talk to you about various options for your family and budget.

I hope these ideas help you get started! As you continue with your planning Heather, I hope you’ll send us additional questions here at planDisney. We can chat with you about the different theme park ticket options, give dining recommendations, or even tips for keeping cool in the Florida heat. We love talking Disney and are here to help!
