Can an infant be taken on the caring for giants tour?

Hi, Sara! My family has a special love for elephants, and my girls were so excited when I surprised them with the Caring for Giants behind the scenes tour last spring.

There is no age limit for this hour long tour, which takes place in Disney's Animal Kingdom. You'll take a short ride on a shuttle backstage at the theme park, and out to a special platform that gives you access to the elephants from about 100 feet away. In addition to learning just about everything you want to know about Disney's African elephant herd, there are African cultural representatives there to share stories about growing up in areas surrounded by these majestic creatures. You learn about conservation and preservation of the African elephants in their homeland, and you can ask questions about the elephants or the culture and people of Africa.

You will need a theme park ticket to do this tour (not for the infant, of course). I recommend close toed shoes, because it was a little gravelly walking toward the platform. Also know that except for the shuttle ride there and back, you are outdoors. You may want to keep a hat or some sort of cover on the baby.

Enjoy a wonderful look at these incredible animals.
