When do you incur a cancellation fee when cancelling a resort reservation? And - what is the fee??

It's great to see you back here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Doreen! Mickey and I are sad to hear that you may need to cancel your Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation, but sometimes life gets in the way, and these things happen. I'd be happy to help!

There are two types of resort reservations: Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Packages or a Room-Only Reservation. For a Disney Resort Hotel Package, to receive a full refund, your cancellation must be made 30 days or more before your arrival. If you need to cancel within 29 days to 2 days prior to your arrival date, there is a $200 penalty per room. If you need to cancel your reservation within one day beforehand, the vacation package is unfortunately nonrefundable. For a Room-Only Reservation, you may cancel five or more days before your arrival to avoid penalty (cancellations within the five-day window are charged a fee equal to one night's stay). If your booking can be canceled online through My Disney Experience, you'll see a link for "Cancel Reservation." Otherwise, you can call Disney Travel Operations at 407-560-CHAT (2428), and they'll be able to assist you. As a reminder, when canceling your Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation, it is important to also cancel any other bookings such as dining, tours, or recreation, too.

I hope this helps, Doreen! We hope to see ya' again real soon!

I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at my monthly Bunco club for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
