We are now a 1 income family so we are thinking of trying WDW not on dining plan. Planning on packing snacks and drinks for each day but would like to do 1 or 2 sit down dinners so I am looking for tips for best bang for our buck with little ones (2 &

    Hi Lisa,

Your question cut off so I am not sure of the age of your second little one. Your two year old would not be on the dining plan because you must be at least three years old. This is because your dining plan is added to your Magic Your Way ticket and credits are deducted using your ticket. You two year old does not need a ticket.

When my princesses were that little, we packed them lunches and snacks simply because we never knew when they would be hungry. We then shared some of our meals with them when we ate, and we were not wasting money on their food because they were not hungry. In addition, we did and still do eat breakfast in our room by bringing cereal from home and grabbing milk at the resorts store.

One place to find value is at a character meal. These buffets offer not only a good amount of food but also the ability to see characters and not wait in line for them. The characters come to your table which is a time saver.

Another tip is to eat a later lunch. This will make for a cheaper big meal.  It also will move you out of the heat of the day and into cool atmosphere which is refreshing.

Finally, bring plastic zipper bags. This way if you have any food from your meal left over, you can easy transport it in a bag or stroller and it is not as bulky as take out containers. This way you always have meals on the go.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
