Hi there, Megan, and welcome to planDisney!
“Everybody wants to be a cat!” And I love that that’s totally welcomed at
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It’s my favorite time of the year because, as an adult, I’m allowed to wear costumes at my happy place (Walt Disney World Resort). Let’s get into the details on how you can have a practically purr-fect night dressed as an Aristocat.
First, I recommend that you check out the current
costume guidelines for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. From what I know about your costume, the guideline for Guests 14 years of age or older that directly pertains to your 11-inch cat tail is that “Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground (for example, full-length Princess dresses).” So, as long as your tail isn’t dragging behind you, you’re good to go!
Depending on the material of your cat tail, it could set off the metal detector's sensors at security checkpoint before entering Magic Kingdom Park. If it does have metal in it, I recommend detaching it and holding it out in front of you as you walk through the metal detector. (AN EXTRA GEM: I do the same thing when I’m carrying an umbrella or battery packs.)
Also, I highly recommend testing out your boo-tiful costume before party night. A couple of years ago at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, I struggled getting in and out of attractions like
Space Mountain because my hoop skirt was larger than what I usually wear to the Disney Parks. I still had a blast, but just food for thought in case your tail puts you off balance or isn’t the cushiest thing to sit on.
Answering your question has made me even more excited about my family’s upcoming party! If you have any questions at all about your Halloween visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth, please
revisit us here at planDisney. As for right meow, have fun putting the final touches on your costume. I hope that you have the BEST time, Megan!
Magic always,
LeAndra
