    How "important" is Downtown Disney? was not planning to go, but have been reading about the cool making own light saber and Mr. Potato head. We will be there for 8 days,first day is 1/2 would that be a good time? Thanks

    Me again!

    Downtown Disney is a great break for the afternoon, especially for kids. Get a big sundae at Ghiradelli's, let the kids loose in the Lego play area, and shopping in the World of Disney store is pretty amazing.

    But I would not dedicate time to visit it INSTEAD of a theme park. I would use it as a place to go when a park is not the right solution. Your thought of the first day you arrive is PERFECT!

    An idea that might make it fun for your kids, and easier on your pocket book as well is this;

    Give each kid a 'coupon' good for one shirt, one toy, etc. They can 'redeem' it with you during that visit. And that is ALL that they get! It will make them more discerning shoppers, and you might not go broke in the process.

    Make sure you visit the new Design-A-Tee store, as well as the Sports apparel store too.

    Have a magical vacation!
