    I'm wondering about the ADR-can you show up with a couple more people than originally set? What about if you have less people?

    These situations have happened to me MANY times. For example, our family was once dining at Chef Mickey's. We ran into another family that we knew from home (small world), The restaurant was able to move the tables around so we could all sit together. In my experience, the cast members at the restaurants try very hard to accommodate changes such as this whenever they can.

    In general, showing up with fewer people is easier for the restaurants than showing up with more. The only time it might be a problem to show up with fewer people is if you are dining at one of the venues that requires advance payment or a credit card to hold the reservation (Cinderella's Royal Table, California Grill, Hoop de Doo Revue, and a few others). In this case, they might charge you for the missing person. 

    If a larger group shows up, they try hard to work you in when they can. This is usually (but not always) possible depending on the crowd levels. Some types of party size changes are easier to deal with than others. For example, if you are a group of five and you want to add a sixth person, this does not really impact the restaurant much. The reason this is an easy change is that most tables are meant to accommodate an even number of people. So, a party of five would have already have a table that could seat six allotted to them. (Hope this makes sense). But if you have a party of five and you want to add two more people, the restaurant is now going to have to find a much larger table for your group than the one that they had originally planned. In this case, you'll probably end up waiting longer to be seated. Also in my experience, the larger the restaurant, the more luck you are going to have tinkering with your reservation. Chef Mickey's is a huge venue. On any given night there will be lots of people needing to change things and they have a bit of wiggle room to move things around. A smaller restaurant will have fewer options to change things.
