Hi! I'm a WDW veteran, but taking my son, who will be 2, for the first time this summer. We are staying at the Dolphin. I'll be at a conference for part of the days, are there any fun things at the resorts that my hubby and son can do while I'm working?

    Hi Stacy,

The Dolphin resort has a wonderful pool and playground, as well as nearby bike and boat rentals that your husband and son could enjoy together.

But you shouldn't limit their exploration to just your hotel. The Dolphin is located on the Boardwalk at Walt Disney World. There are shops and restaurants there as well as some free entertainment (magicians, musicians) in the evening.

At the Dolphin, you're also less than a ten minute walk away from both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Those two theme parks have TONS for a toddler and dad to do together.

And the Dolphin is also a quick free bus ride away from the Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom, which is the epicenter of fun for preschoolers. Additionally there is free transportation to Disney's water parks and the Downtown Disney entertainment area.

If you want to experience some of the theme parks with your family, perhaps you could decide to join them in the evenings at the Magic Kingdom, but let them go to the Animal Kingdom in the morning without you. I'd hate to think of them stuck at the hotel all day with so much fun waiting to be had nearby.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
