Hi Ashley!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
Just this past year, Genie+ changed over to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes changed over to Lightning Lane Single Pass. The change in names came along with a change in how they work, as well! Here’s a quick overview.
With
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can book 3 Lightning Lanes per park day up to 7 days in advance of your trip. At the same time you book those Lightning Lane pre-selections, you can also book up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes per park day, pending availability. You can find a full list of
current Lightning Lane attractions here.
If you’re
staying at a Disney World resort or select good neighbor hotel, your Lightning Lane booking/purchasing window will open for your entire trip at 7 AM Eastern, 7 days prior to your resort check-in date. And if you’re staying off property, it will open at 7 AM Eastern, 3 days prior to the start date of your park ticket (if you have date-based tickets).
On your park day, each time you scan into a Lightning Lane when using Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will be able to book any other available Lightning Lane by using your
My Disney Experience app. If you have a valid
park hopper ticket, you can book Lightning Lanes in any park pending availability throughout the day.
The cost of this service may vary between parks and dates. You can check the cost of the Lightning Lane services up to 3 weeks before your trip on your My Disney Experience app. Just click Purchase under Lightning Lane Multi Pass/Single Pass on the homepage of the app, click the date you’ll be visiting, then click the drop-down menu next to each park to review the prices.
It’s good to note that if anyone in your travel party is under 3 years old, you will not need to purchase the service for them. They’ll be able to access the Lightning Lane along with the rest of your family as long as everyone else has a Lightning Lane booked for that attraction.
Before I let you go, I want you to know that there’s actually a third service offered now, as well. It’s called
Lightning Lane Premier Pass, and while it comes at a higher price per person, it gives you access to every Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass attraction in one park without having to book any return times. You’d just show up to the ride and scan in!
Your booking window for that service opens at the same time as the other Lightning Lane services, and you can check the prices for that service in the same manner as I described above (just click Purchase under the Lightning Lane Premier Pass section instead).
As you continue to plan your trip, we’re always happy to help with any questions you have! So, feel free to come back and visit us!
