Welcome to planDisney, Darren. Thanks for reaching out to us!
The
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass system just rolled out and we are all learning the ins and outs of it. Like you, I try my best to maximize these systems and ride as many attractions as I possibly can! So let's see if we can answer your question so you can come up with the best strategy.
When you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can book 3 Lightning Lanes in advance at qualifying attractions for each day you have the service (subject to availability). At this time, you can only reserve Lightning Lanes for the first park you are visiting, even if you have the
Park Hopper Option on your theme park ticket. Currently, when you redeem your first Lightning Lane reservation, you can make a new one and it can be for any park (as long as your ticket allows for this). You should also then be able to make your third reservation for a different park and even modify your second reservation to an attraction in a different park should you choose. So in short, you need to redeem at least one Lightning Lane in your first park before you're able to make (or modify) reservations for a different park on the same day. Just note that these policies and rules are subject to change.
My personal recommendation is that you take advantage of making the 3 Lightning Lane reservations for your first park. After all, you are paying for the ability to make 3 advanced reservations and you can always modify your third reservation if you don't think you'll use it (subject to availability). At this time, I'm just not seeing an advantage to only booking 2 in advance, especially because to make a Lightning Lane reservation for another park, you'll have to redeem your first one...and once you redeem your first one, you can make another! So in my eyes, you're achieving the same goal but getting 3 guaranteed Lightning Lane reservations of your choice before even stepping into the park!
Also, at this time, 7 a.m. is only relevant if you are trying for a Boarding Group through the
Virtual Queue. Otherwise, you can sleep in a bit since all of your Lightning Lanes are booked for the day! Of course, I always say I'm going to do this, but I'm usually just so excited to be at the Walt Disney World Resort, that it never happens. So what does that mean for me? Well, after briefly considering exercise, I just find the nearest coffee place and enjoy the view out on my balcony or in a nice quiet space at my
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel. Sometimes, these moments of zen are some of the most comforting from your vacation!
