Step right up, and welcome to planDisney, friend! You’ll be at the Big Top soon, Klutz, so let’s see how you can follow the
Disneyland Resort attire guidelines while still clowning around a little!
According to the
Guest Courtesy and Attire Policies, guests 14 and older cannot wear costumes or masks in the
Theme Parks. So floppy clown shoes and full-face paint would not be allowed. But I don’t see why you can’t have some fun with your outfit while still following park guidelines.
Many guests, adults and children alike, enjoy Disneybounding at the parks. Instead of a costume, Disneybounding uses clothing color schemes and accessorizing touches to pay tribute to a character. It requires some creativity and imagination, and I’ve found that when I Disneybound, my park days are as exciting as a three-ring circus!
For example, you could wear bright red sneakers with fluorescent laces instead of oversized clown shoes. Throw on some suspenders and pin a small flower on one side. Mix stripes and polka dots, but keep it subtle. No clown wigs are allowed, but there’s no reason you can’t add gel to your hair for extra chuckles. And be sure to find some
Disney PhotoPass photographers to commemorate your masterpiece.
Klutz, as long as you wear street-friendly clothes, I have faith that you’ll find a way to let your personality shine. However, remember that Cast Members will have the last word, so be sure to have a plan B outfit on hand if you have any doubt that what you're wearing will fly. Because I’ve seen a house fly, and I’ve even seen an elephant fly, but I’m not sure about clown costumes!
I’m sending happy thoughts that you can create the perfect ensemble for your trip. Like Dumbo says, "Some days deserve an extra dose of cute!"
Magic awaits,
Elaine
