Hi there, Yuko! Thanks for bringing this spooktacular question to us at
planDisney.
Oogie Boogie Bash is one of my favorite events of the year! I love seeing all the characters dressed up for Halloween, as well as some villains that rarely dare to show their faces! Let’s come up with the best approach!
Before we talk about all the characters, treat trails, and attractions, keep in mind that the party starts at 6:00 pm, though guests who have an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket can enter the park at 3:00 pm. You will receive a wristband, which means you can enjoy the park from 3:00 to 6:00 like all the other guests, and then show your wristband to stay and enjoy the party!
Many people will dress up for the party, which is a big part of the fun. My family always coordinates costumes; just be aware that there are some
guidelines that Disney asks everyone to follow to stay safe and keep the event enjoyable. I’d suggest planning costumes that take the weather into account. It is still very hot in the middle of September. I’ll never forget the year my family dressed as characters from Frozen, and I wore a full and fluffy Olaf costume. No warm hugs for me, thank you very much! My favorite tip is to get a
locker at the front of the park on
Buena Vista Street. You can store costumes in there if you want to wait until the party starts to get dressed, and then after a few treat trails you can use it to unload candy if your bag gets too heavy!
When it comes to suggesting an itinerary, it all depends on your priorities. At events like this, I tend to want to experience things that are unique to the event. Those things would be special characters, treat trails, shows, and food. Since you are allowed in the park before the party actually begins, I’d suggest making your way to the back of the park near the Toy Story Boardwalk and making your way around the park counterclockwise. Be sure to stop for
Villains Grove, which transforms the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail into a magical dreamscape featuring some of the most famous Disney villains. I’d also keep an eye on the time to ensure you end up at the Performance Corridor when the brand new
Madame Leota's Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party takes place. Find a good seat a little early for my favorite part of the party each year: catching a glimpse of the eerie Headless Horseman.
The good news is that many of the character interactions take place as you pass through the treat trails. Disney has not yet released an official map or character lineup, which usually happens mid-August when the event starts. Be sure to look those up to confirm exactly what you’d like to prioritize. Also,
Disney Parks Blog is sure to release more details about events, characters, and especially the food, so check back regularly.
Yuko, I hope you have a magically spooky time at Oogie Boogie this year. If you have other planning questions or need more tips, come on back to
planDisney anytime.
Have a magical day!
