Hello Kirsty!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm happy to detail the latest info we have about the revamped
Disability Access Service (DAS).
Though changes will go into effect on May 20, 2024, guests visiting from outside the US shouldn't worry about applying for the service. The virtual chat will be available to you upon arrival where you'll discuss your needs and eligibility with a specially trained Cast Member from the Disability Services Team. You should be able to access the chat from your smartphone via the My Disney Experience Mobile App (be sure to download that once you've arrived stateside), but you can also visit Guest Relations to request a device to complete the chat. Cast Members at
Guest Relations will no longer be part of the DAS approval process beginning May 20, but they will have devices available for international guests or others who may not have a compatible device.
Walt Disney World Resort has always been committed to providing an inclusive environment and
many programs are in place even for guests who don't qualify for DAS. I'm sure you'll find the appropriate accommodations for your travel party to have a most magical vacation.
I'm not sure if you've started making park day itineraries just yet, but there is plenty of excitement in store for your visit. The dates for next year's
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts have yet to be announced but since it usually spans mid-January through mid-February I'm hopeful you'll be able to experience it during your trip. As a creative spirit and fan of artful food and beverages, it's my favorite of the EPCOT festivals!
Kirsty, please feel free to come back to planDisney with any additional questions or concerns as you prepare for your visit. We're always happy to help.
Magic and memories,
Amy
