Logan,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
I recently answered a similar question, but let me share with you the basic information you need.
Disney has moved away from creating planning DVDs, but what they do offer is a wide array of online tools to help with the planning process. You found one of them, at PlanDisney. Another essential one is the My Disney Experience service. However the one that is often overlooked, but most closely matches the DVD experience, is the Vacation Planning page. It really captures the core planning topics that most of us find challenging.
Now I don't want to leave you with just that short answer, so let me offer some good planning tips. When I help friends plan, I tell them to answer these questions, preferably in this order. It helps speed things along.
- Pick Dates. Get an idea of when you want to go. You can be off a day here or there, but getting the general trip schedule ready first helps the rest of the pieces drop into place.
- Plan your Parks. Do you want to spend a lot more time at the Magic Kingdom Park because you have younger children? Perhaps your adult-only group wants to spend most of the visit tasting cuisine from around the world at EPCOT? How many days do you need to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park? This should help you plan how many park days you need to purchase when you select your tickets.
- Find your home. Pick the Value, Moderate, and Deluxe resort hotel options that best match your family's location and theming interests. You can price each out to discover which best matches your vacation budget.
Picking restaurants, attractions, shows, and all the other fun can come later. So many of those decisions also sort themselves out when you know where you will be, and when.
OK.
Final step. Write me back with questions you might have for these choices, or other planning questions. I can recommend how many and what parks based on your traveling party. I can offer my favorites for table and counter service restaurants in each park and around your resort. Basically, the team at planDisney is here to help you in your planning journey!
Have a Magical Vacation!Doug
