I'm trying to decide on a resort for Sept. 08. I've experienced the WL and all moderate hotels. I'm looking for convenience, nice theme, and affordability. Is contemporary worth the extra money for convenience? Other suggestions?

To be perfectly honest, the Contemporary would not be my first choice.  Nothing is wrong with it at all - in fact, the rooms are newly refurbished and very nice.  But right now it is still being renovated, so there are a few things that go along with that which would prompt me to look elsewhere.  The restaurants inside the resort are being shifted and re-done, and there is outdoor construction on a new building as well.  Also, as a purely personal preference, the themeing doesn't appeal to me as much as other resorts.

From a convenience standpoint, it has the monorail connection which is handy.  However, the Polynesian and Grand Floridian do as well, so I really think it all comes down to how your family travels.  Do you spend most of your time in the Magic Kingdom?  Do you often go back to your room for breaks in the day?  If so, then the convenience may be worth the extra money to you.  If, though, you tour parks 'commando-style' like my family, you might consider looking elsewhere.

In my opinion, the Beach/Yacht Club is the best resort for convenience.  It has beautiful themeing and a fabulous pool.  Stormalong Bay is almost like a mini water park!  The resort has a very laid back feel, but it is elegant at the same time.

The location of the Beach Club is also top-notch.  You have a very brief 5 minute walk to the Epcot International Gateway or the Boardwalk area, and a 10-15 minute walk to Hollywood Studios.  (Alternatively you can take a boat to any of these locations)  We also like to walk through Epcot and catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom - it's more scenic than a bus - so if you look at it that way the Beach/Yacht Club location has you connected to three parks!  Now that's convenience!
