Hello Alexeus!
Welcome to planDisney! A baby’s first birthday is extra special, and the Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect place to commemorate the occasion. We celebrated my youngest son’s first birthday at Magic Kingdom, and I still enjoy looking back at the adorable photos from that day.
There are a few locations that are currently offering a modified character dining experience. Guests can enjoy breakfast with favorite friends at
Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort, or
Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Since you specifically mentioned dinner, you’ll find character meal experiences at either
Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or
The Garden Grill at Epcot. While
safety precautions mean characters aren’t able to come up directly to your table for hugs or autographs, each restaurant has its own way of allowing Guests to see the characters from a safe distance. If you were wanting to try to get a photo of your birthday boy with Mickey Mouse, I would recommend The Garden Grill. At this location, you’ll sit in a booth, and the characters will stop by one at a time, for a wave on the back-side of the booth. If your son was seated in the back of the booth, you might be able to get a safety distanced photo of Mickey with your son.
Advance Dining Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance of Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservations for the length of your visit, or 60 days in advance for day Guests, and I would reserve as soon as you are able for the best availability.
Currently, Disney is offering
Mickey Mouse Celebration specialty cakes at most dining locations, including The Garden Grill and Hollywood & Vine. You have your choice of chocolate or white chocolate, and the classic Mickey design is perfect for kids ages 1 to 100! Stop by the restaurant podium to request a celebration cake be added to your Advance Dining Reservation. Cakes can be limited, so I would stop by the restaurant early in the morning. Once seated, let your server know that if at all possible, you’d love to have Mickey stop by when your cake is delivered to join in your celebration. While this cannot be guaranteed, it’s always a good idea to ask in advance and your server will do their very best.
I hope this helps you plan the perfect Disney birthday celebration. Wishing your son a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
