Hello Jennifer and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for visiting with your question, it's great to chat with another Disney Vacation Club Member.
How exciting to be thinking of a points trip to a
Disney Vacation Club resort so soon! I've been known to book a last-minute DVC Resort stay so I can understand how you might be feeling. I took a peek at availability using the 2/19-2/22 dates by logging in to my Disney Vacation Club account. First, I located the "Plan Vacation" tab at the top of the page and selected "
Last Minute Getaways". This is where you can see availability at a Disney Vacation Club Resort over the next 60 days. If there is availability, you'll see a table listing the Resort Location, Room Type, and Available Dates. This list is updated weekly. If you find something that matches your dates, you can either book online or phone
Member Services.
If you don't see anything open for your dates, you can instead select "Book a Vacation" under the "Plan a Vacation" tab. I have learned that the closer you are to your travel date, the more flexible you might need to be when making a reservation. When you explore "Book a vacation" and enter your potential travel dates, you'll notice that there is currently no availability for those dates at one Resort. You will, however, see that there are a variety of Studios and Villas available on various days of your trip. If you're open to doing a split stay where you change resorts, you could go ahead and complete your reservation. I’ve done a few split stays and like how I can experience more than one Resort on a trip but it does require a bit of juggling when switching resorts and checking in to your new Villa.
Another benefit of my Disney Vacation Club Membership that I enjoy is the flexibility it offers both in the selection/size of accommodations as well as when Members can use DVC Points. Members can
bank their Points if they are not planning to use them during the current Use Year or, they can bank them to have a larger number of Points available for planning travel in the following Use Year. (Points must be banked by a specific date that is unique to your Use Year).
Jennifer, I hope this information is helpful. Please reach out to
planDisney if you have any other Disney Vacation Club or vacation planning questions.
Welcome Home!
