I'm thinking of going on the transatlantic cruise, I heard something about a vat tax on board once the ship entered European waters, is this right? if so how much is the tax. does that mean that every purchase we make will have this additional tax?

    Ahoy, Vickie!
We are so glad you cruised back over to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. A transatlantic sailing with Disney Cruise Line is on my cruise bucket list, so I'm excited to hear you are thinking about taking the plunge and booking one soon. The VAT tax (value added tax) is applicable to purchases made aboard once the ship enters European waters, but not while the ship sails through international waters. Taxes can vary by the item and country, so Disney Cruise Line has provided a helpful VAT FAQ information page on their website that includes a link to the current rates. I suggest spending some time looking over this page to see the additional charges that you may encounter on your sailing. If you are considering Port Adventures, the tax has already been included so no additional charges to worry about when researching going ashore.
I hope the FAQ page will provide you with useful information, Vickie! Thank you again for visiting the Moms Panel!
Have a magical day and happy planning!
