Hi, I'm thinking of signing up for the half marathon. This would be my first disney run. If the race begins at Epcot, does the monorail run that early to get there? Also, what do u suggest wearing/bringing to the race?

    Hi Laura!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm delighted to hear that you are considering running the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon!

When I travel this fall for Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, I'll be staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort with the plan that the Resort Monorail will be running. While it hasn't been officially announced for this runDisney event just yet, it has historically ran for the half marathon distance (and full marathon distance for the Walt Disney World Marathon). In the past, it has not ran for the 5K and 10K distance. I'm planning on it, but it is always subject to change.

For what you need to bring to the race, I'd try and mimic your training run as close as possible. I run with a running belt with my cell phone, chapstick and energy gels. Some runners also bring water, though I'm personally able to rely on the water stops throughout the course. When the Digital Event Guide is released closer to the race, it will show the locations of the water stop and you can use this to judge off your personal running experience.

Depending on the weather, you may also want to bring a "throw-away" layer. I have brought older sweatshirts that I've used to keep me warm prior to the race, that I've thrown off within the first mile. When you do this, runDisney collects all these items, washes them and donates them to a local shelter. Just make sure if you do this you completely throw it to the side and off the course to keep things safe for the runners behind you!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
