I’m thinking of bringing my small dogs but worry since I’ve noticed housekeeping/maintenance leave doors ajar. They won’t be left alone for long, but what precautions are in place for pet rooms? I know a sign is given, but how does it help keep pets safe?

Welcome back to planDisney, Martena! Thanks so much for stopping by with your question about bringing your dogs with you during your next visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

I hear you! Keeping my dogs safe while we are on vacation is very important because after all, they are family. I take my two dogs, Buster and Bruno, to stay with my family at the resort all the time. As a matter of fact, they just enjoyed a visit during my family's most recent stay at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

Cast Members will ask you to put a sign on your door. The front desk also makes a note that your dogs are in your room, and a housekeeper will not enter your room unless you schedule service with them. It's an added precaution for the safety of your dogs and the housekeepers. I would recommend taking travel kennels with you. My boys are never left loose in the rooms. We always keep them in their kennels when we are away to make sure they feel safe.

Dogs are expected to be well-behaved, leashed in public areas and properly vaccinated. I asked my vet for a printout of my dog's vaccinations before we left for our vacation and kept the paperwork handy.

You do have a few options when it comes to where your dogs can stay with you during your vacation. These include:

    Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Disney Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
    Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort

Right now, dogs are the only pets allowed, with a maximum of 2 permitted per Guest room. The fees can vary from $50-$75 per night, depending on your Disney hotel and are subject to change.

Martena, I hope this information is helpful to you as you continue to plan your visit. Please feel free to come back to see us if you have any more questions. It's always our pleasure to help you with all the details of your next vacation!
