I'm starting to plan a trip for September 2024 but I'm not sure what dates I want to book. If I book now but need to change the dates, can I do that if there is availability? And if a discount is released later, can I apply it to my reservation?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Nyree!

I’m happy you stopped by with a question for us.

September is a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World Resort! Not only is the weather beginning to cool down after summer, but you’ll also enjoy Fall festivities around The Most Magical Place on Earth! To me, there’s nothing cuter than pumpkins that are Mickey-shaped!

Nyree, in short, the answer is that you can change your trip dates as long as there is availability and as long as you abide by the cancellation policy. And I’m elated to tell you that you can modify an existing reservation to add a Special Offer, pending availability!

Now, allow me to explain further—

If you’re considering booking a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package, with theme park tickets and a Disney Resort hotel stay, you can customize your vacation package to suit your budget. This requires a small deposit, and you can pay off the remainder of the balance on your own time as you like, as long as the balance is paid off 30 days before your check-in date. Keep in mind that dates are subject to change, so when you book, do double-check the due date so you’re aware of it.

Now, the reason I’m telling you about vacation packages being great is that they can be canceled or modified up to 30 days from your arrival date for a full refund. However, please remember that if you modify it from 2 to 29 days, there is a $200 cancelation fee, though prices are subject to change.

For a room-only reservation, the room can be canceled up to 5 days before arrival for a full refund. Canceling between 0-4 days for this reservation would cost you your deposit amount paid when you first booked. Theme park tickets are non-transferable and nonrefundable; however, you can modify the ticket start dates before your visit. The great thing about theme park tickets is that even if they’re expired, as long as they’re unused, you can use the amount you paid for them and apply it towards new tickets.

Although I may be biased, I feel it’s never too early to plan a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! It gives you something to look forward to and more time to pay off your vacation, should you choose to go with a vacation package! And while you’re planning, we’re here to help if you have any questions!

Wishing you an enchanting visit, Nyree!
