    I'm starting to plan our next Disney Vacation. Our boys will be 5 and 6 and daughter 3. What do you suggest for days at the park and how long for a vacation etc....? We did 4 days in the park and it wasn't long enough. Thank you!

    Abby,

    This is a great question. The most important factor on how long your vacation should be is always your budget. You obviously never want to spend more than you can afford. But assuming that is taken into consideration, I would say that the ideal trip length for my family, with kids the same age, is 6 park days. Here is my thinking;

    • The Magic Kingdom is the most important park of all for you. More to do, more to see. Three days is enough to get a lot of it done, and repeat some of their most favorite experiences.
    • I think all three other parks have something for all ages, and they all deserve their day in the sun.
    • So that makes 6 days. But if you can fit in one day of non-park fun, you might stretch it to 7. That day could be filled with a slower day at your resort pool, some Downtown Disney time, maybe even a fun dinner out. Remember that relaxation is half of the "Rest & Relaxation" formula for vacations.
    But that can be more than some families can afford. So to shorten the stay, but not the fun, you could get tickets with the Park Hopper option. That way you could pair a morning 1/2 day at the Animal Kingdom with an evening 1/2 day at the Magic Kingdom. Or you could pair Epcot with the Animal Kingdom. Either way you could still get in just as much fun.

    BOTTOM LINE: Optimal: 6 park days, 1 non-park day. Reasonable: 5 park days (with 1/2 day at Animal Kingdom and 1/2 day at Epcot), and 0 non-park days.

    Write me back if you want some other scheduling ideas.

    Have a magical vacation!
