I'm sorry to ask such a stupid question, but here goes: Is there another way of getting up to the monorail from the parks besides the ramp? My eldery inlaws will never make it, and we have to leave the rented wheelchairs at the exit. Thanks!

    Hi Bill,

That's a great question. Unfortunately I don't have a great answer. The only way to access the monorail from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot is via a long ramp. If you're at the Magic Kingdom, you could take a boat to the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian and then use their elevator to get to the monorail, but that somewhat defeats the purpose. You could also walk from the MK to the Contemporary. It's a long walk for a frail person, but it's on a flat surface.

If your inlaws will have trouble walking outside the theme parks, you may want to consider renting them wheelchairs or ECVs from an independent agency. There are many that serve the Orlando area. Two that are well respected are buenavistascooters.com and walkermobility.com. These agencies will pick-up and deliver to your resort. And their equipment can be used anywhere, not just within the theme parks.
